Job Announcements
To apply for an advertised job opening, a City of Westminster Job Application Form must be completed, signed and submitted to the Human Resources Office. Some positions may require a resume.
Applications must be received by the Human Resources Office prior to the posted deadline. No late applications are accepted. Applications can be submitted in person, by mail, or by fax at 410-848-3954. If the application is submitted by fax, the original signed application must be mailed by the posted deadline date. A job application can be obtained in person at the Finance Department in the Winchester West Building at 56 West Main Street, Westminster, by requesting an application by mail, or by calling 410-848-6043 or 410-876-1313 (Ext. 6043). The Finance Department hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Applications may also be requested by
email. Upon receiving a request, applications will be mailed or faxed to applicants as instructed. All applicants will receive a postcard confirming receipt of their application.
Certified Police Officers applications will be accepted if there is a current opening for a Certified Police Officer.
General Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age upon completion of the police training academy
- Must be a citizen of the United States
- Must posses a high school diploma or GED certificate
- Must possess a valid class D or C non-commercial driver's license, and a relatively clean driving record
- Must be in good psychological and physical condition.
- Must be of good moral character: no felony arrest(s) or misdemeanor convictions involving moral character, domestic violence, perjury or false statements
- Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, a commitment to public service, problem solving skills, empathy and social tolerance
- Must meet the state standards for appointment and certification as a police officer as required by the Maryland Police and Corrections Training Commission

Holidays
The City of Westminster grants 10 holidays per year. All regular full and part-time employees are eligible for holiday pay.
Personal Birthday Leave
The City of Westminster grants the employee's personal birthday as a leave day. All regular full and part-time employees are eligible for personal birthday leave.
Personal Leave Days
All regular full and part time employees are granted four personal days per year
Sick Leave/Family Sick Leave
All regular full and part time employees are granted ten sick days per year with four of these days being available for Family Sick Leave. Sick Leave is accrued monthly
Deferred Compensation
A Section 457 Deferred Compensation plans is available to full and part time employees.
Credit Unions
The City of Westminster participates in the State Employees Credit Union and the First Financial Credit Union. This program is available to both full and part-time employees.
Uniform Shoes
The City will pay up to $100 per year towards the purchase of uniform shoes.
Westminster Family Center
The City of Westminster offers all employees the opportunity to become members of the Westminster Family Center and Westminster Municipal Pool for a reduced membership fee.
