American Red Cross Blood Drive

Give the Gift of Life on September 5 at the American Red Cross Bloodmobile outside the Westminster Family Fitness Center. Blood donations are at a critical low and your donation can help save a life. Parent's Night Out

Saturday, February 15 5-8:30 p.m.

$16 for the first child, $6 each additional child (from the same household)

Start making plans with your spouse, friends, partner, or family...because we've got the child care covered! Go shopping, grab some dinner, see a movie or just go relax! Kids will play games, watch movies, do crafts, play sports, eat dinner and have a ball with our exceptionally trained staff of caregivers, counselors and teachers. Register online in minutes!

Westminster's Got Talent Talent Show

Saturday, February 22 7pm

Join us at the Carroll Arts Center, 91 W. Main Street, to showcase your talents in any genre or cheer on our brave and talented locals! $15 fee to enter, all ages welcome. Submit your application to the Recreation and Parks office no later than February 17 (DEADLINE EXTENDED!!). Space is limited. Register online in minutes!

MARCH 2014

Celtic Canter 5K and Irish Celebration

Saturday, March 15 9am-12noon

4th annual 5K Celtic Canter (beginning at Belle Grove Square Park, ending at O’Lordan’s Irish Pub).  Post race children are invited to participate in the Lucky Leprechaun Chase at Belle Grove Square Park. The celebrationcontinues downtown with Irish themed kid’s activities &entertainment. Children attending must be accompanied by an adult. Corbit's Charge Civil War Ball

Saturday, March 29 8:00 - 11:00 p.m.
This event features period dancing at the armory gymnasium (11 Longwell Ave). 2013 Corbit’s Charge Ball tickets will be $20.00 for 18 & up, $10.00 for 13-18years old and 12 and under are free. Dance instruction is offered for experienced and beginner dancers as well as light refreshments. Proceeds benefit the 151st Corbit's Charge Commemoration, a non-profit organization to educate the public on the Civil War History in Westminster. Call 410-848-9161 or email us for more information.

Easter Egg Hunt

Saturday, April 12 10:30 a.m. (ages 1-4) 11:30 a.m. (ages 5-8)

Join the Easter Bunny at the Annual Egg Hunt at WESTMINSTER CITY PARK (behind 11 Longwell Avenue). The first hunt will start at 10:30am for ages one to four years. The second hunt is for ages five to eight years and begins at 11:30am. There are over 4,000 plastic filled eggs with 100 special prize eggs. The hunts are FREE and open to the public. Bring a basket! A bunny petting zoo is also offered. Face painting, basket raffles, and food will be available for purchase. Call 410-848-9161 for more information. PRE REGISTRATION IS NOT REQUIRED.

If you love Zumba, then join us for Zumbathon this April 24th from 6-8pm at the Westminster Family Fitness Center, 11 Longwell Avenue, Westminster. Smoothies will be served and there will be door prizes. Proceeds will support CCASH, Inc./Carroll County Homeless Resource Day and the City of Westminster Recreation & Parks Group Fitness Department. Flower and Jazz 5K Fun Run/Walk

Saturday, May 10 9a.m.

The 14th annual Flower and Jazz 5k and Fun Run/Walk will take place at Wakefield Valley Community Trail, Tahoma Farm Rd (just off of Rte. 31), beginning at 9a.m. with a 200 yard dash for kids 6 and under (free). Then at 9:15a.m. there will be a 1 mile fun run for kids 7 and up (free). At 9:30a.m. we will begin the timed 5K run. Registration fee for the timed 5K is $20 per person. All pre-registrants will receive a free tee shirt and plant. Timed by Westminster Road Runners. Register online or print and mail a registration form.

Flower and Jazz Festival

Saturday, May 10 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Event takes place in Historic Downtown Westm
inster and is designed for a leisurely day of fun and jazz. Delicious food and great entertainment will be offered. Local nurseries set up beautiful displays of unusual plants and shrubs. There are also over 100 craft vendors displaying a wide variety of unique items. This event is open to the public. Moms...don't forget to visit the information table for your free gift. Mother Son Date Night

Join us for this fun, annual event held at the elegant Martin's of Westminster (140 Village Shopping Center, 505 Jermor Lane)! Tickets for this event are $43 per adult and $22 per child. Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Monday, May 26  10:00 a.m.
The Parade starts at 10:00 a.m. on Pennsylvania Avenue and ends on Church Street at the Westminster Cemetery. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the cemetery. For more information contact Daniel Bohn at 410-259-8285.

Summer Day Camp

June- August 2013
Westminster City Recreation's Summer Day camp takes place all full weeks Carroll County Public Schools are out of session. It is designed for children to participate in a full day program interacting with one another. Campers participate in games, sports, crafts, field trips, swimming, and a variety of other activities. This is a great way for your children to spend the summer enjoying structured, safe, and fun activities. Camp takes place at the Longwell Municipal Center and Westminster City Park, 11 Longwell Avenue. Call 410-848-9161 for details!

A Month of Sundays Concert Series

every Sunday evening in July  6:45 p.m.

Voted "Carroll's Best Place to Listen to Music" in Carroll County by Carroll County Times readers in 2011!
Held every Sunday in July, this free concert series celebrates the wonderful outdoors in the summer in the City. The concert series is presented by Human Services Programs of Carroll County Inc. It is located in Westminster City Park, beginning at 6:45pm. Food and beverages are for sale. Donations of personal care items for all ages: baby food, diapers, formula, paper goods or cleaning supplies will be collected to benefit the Human Services Programs of Carroll County Inc. National Night Out

Friday, September 26  6pm to Midnight.  Experience the sights, scents, and sounds of an autumn evening in downtown Historic Westminster. A variety of businesses will be open for your shopping pleasure. Live entertainment, antique cars, and much more will be available. Parking is FREE. NO PETS PLEASE!

MIRACLE ON MAIN Electric Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony

Come celebrate the holiday season in Historic Westminster. Enjoy the seasonal sounds of the Westminster Municipal Band, sing carols, see the awarding of the Mayor's Cup and await the arrival of Santa.
