 King Park

Let's Play! The Westminster City Department of Recreation and Parks announces the completion of the renovated ADA Accessible playground at King Park. The installment of the equipment was completed during the months of February and March by the Emmitsburg based company, Playground Specialist, Inc. The final touches where completed with the rubber safety surface being laid.

In 1980, Grace K. Gher, Helen K. Hively, Elsie K. Bair, J. Phillip King and Carl E. King signed over land to the City of Westminster that was to become King Park as you see it today. Residents in the King Park community suggested that diverse Park improvements, including playgrounds and sports areas, would help satisfy the community recreation needs. The ADA compliant play structure is the first of its kind in Westminster. This project was made possible by Project Open Space Funding ($43,393), matching funds from the City ($2,411) and Carroll County ($2,411), and a donation from Robin Ford Builders ($115,000).
