2022 Oyster Stroll Volunteer Form

  1. The City of Westminster Recreation and Parks Department is seeking volunteers on Saturday, October 8, 2022 for our annual Oyster Stroll along Main Street. We are seeking volunteers age 18+ for Vendor Load-In (Volunteers will assist craft/ food vendors to their preassigned space in the festival footprint), for Perimeter Control (Volunteers will be stationed at festival entrances/ exits to ensure guests do not leave the festival area with an open container of alcohol), and for Vendor Load-Out (Volunteers will assist vendors safely out of the event to ensure the road can be re-opened at the appropriate time) as well as age 15+ for Gate Operations (Volunteers will be stationed at festival entrance gates to assist gate operations, only those 18+ will help with ID check)  and age 21+ for beverage distributors  (Volunteers will be stationed at various points through out the footprint pouring alcoholic beverages for guests).


    If you are 21 and over you will receive a free Oyster Stroll ticket for volunteering over 3 hours.

I UNDERSTAND THAT THE EVENT MAY ENTAIL A RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH FROM INTENTIONAL OR UNINTENTIONAL CONTACT WITH A PERSON OR AN OBJECT, FROM FALLING, EXPOSURE TO DUST AND OTHER ALLERGENS, FROM SUDDEN, UNUSUAL OR UNANTICIPATED MOVEMENT OR TWISTING, FROM STRAIN ON THE HEART OR OTHER ORGANS, OR FROM OTHER UNFORESEEN CAUSES.

    I and/or my child participate at our sole risk. I agree that the Mayor and Common Council of Westminster (hereinafter, “the City”), and its officials, officers, servants, agents, employees and officials, shall not be liable to me or to my child for any claims, demands, damages, actions, or causes of action, for injury to my person or property or that of my child arising out of or in connection with my participation in the Event or my presence on City property for that purpose. I expressly waive, release and discharge the City, and its servants, agents, employees, officers and officials, from all claims, demands, liabilities, damages, actions, or causes of action, for injury to my person or property or that of my child caused in any manner, including as a consequence of the active or passive negligence or willful misconduct by the City, excepting gross negligence, and/or its officials, officers, servants, agents or employees, arising out of or in connection with my participation in the Event or that of my child or out of or in connection with my presence on City property or that of my child. I further agree that I will indemnify and hold the City, and its officials, officers, servants, agents, and employees, harmless from and against any and all claims, demands, liabilities, injuries, damages, loss, expense, actions, or causes of action, that they may incur, including attorneys’ fees, for property damage or personal injury sustained or allegedly sustained by myself or my child or caused by my actions or those of a third party to a third party arising out of or in connection with my participation in the Event or that of my child or out of or in connection with my presence or that of my child on City property.

  5. The COVID-19 pandemic, also known as the coronavirus pandemic, is an ongoing pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID 19), caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS CoV 2).

    I acknowledge that participation in city activities includes possible exposure to and illness from infectious diseases including, but not limited to COVID-19. The City of Westminster (City) has instituted procedures and safety measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19 for fitness activity participants based on the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Maryland Governor’s executive orders. While the City has implemented procedures and safety measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19 during fitness activities, I understand that personal actions may also reduce this risk. I acknowledge that the risk of serious illness and death does exist, and I knowingly and freely assume all such risks, both known and unknown, and assume full responsibility for my participation. I willingly agree to comply with the City’s stated participation procedures and safety measures regarding protection against infectious diseases.
